Two-way radios are an effective tool for instant communication on the job site. They help workers stay safe and connected and that goes a long way towards helping them stay focused and productive. When business owners are looking for cost-effective equipment that still meets the needs of their team, they routinely turn to Kenwood’s TK 2402/3402.

These are a few reasons why.

It’s Built to Be Tough

The TK 2402/3402 (VHF and UHF respectively) is designed to handle rugged environments. It is built to military standard 810 C/D/E/F and comes with an Ingress Protection Rating of IP54/55; considerable protection against dust and hard rain. If your construction crew is working out in the rain in downtown Edmonton, this radio will stand up to the elements. The same goes if your team is working in a warehouse or manufacturing facility where dust is a common element.

It’s Simple to Operate

Kenwood designed the TK 2402/3402 to be the ideal tool for intuitive, analog, two-way radio communication, and it hit that mark with its pared-down {missing word(s)?}. The major benefit of this simple {missing word(s)?} is the ease of operation that comes with it. First-time users of two-way radios will be able to use the TK 3402/2402 like veterans of the technology.

It’s Still Packed with Features

Despite its simple design, this radio comes with some extremely useful features. These are just a few of them:

Lone Worker

This is an extremely useful, and potentially life-saving, safety feature aimed at protecting employees who work alone. For example, if an employee were counting inventory in a warehouse or manufacturing facility in Fort McMurray, odds are she would be doing it alone. If enabled, the Lone Worker feature would require her to press a certain button on her two-way radio at given intervals (say, every 5 minutes). Pressing this button would send a signal that assured her team members that she was safe and uninjured.

However, if she went too long without sending that signal, an alert would be sent out to her team’s radios. They could radio her to get an update on her status and act immediately if she was injured or unresponsive.

Radio Stun

If enabled, Radio Stun allows users to remotely disable a two-way radio that gets lost or stolen. It’s a valuable security feature that prevents eavesdropping or other inappropriate use of your TK 2402/3402.

 Built-In Voice Scrambler

Like Radio Stun, Voice Scrambler is a valuable security feature. It provides basic protection against casual eavesdropping. Each radio channel can have 16 inversion frequencies assigned to it, and there are over 2000 frequencies available for this kind of security. With these inversion frequencies in place, eavesdroppers on the same transmit/receive frequencies (be it on a handheld, mobile, or scanner), will have a far more difficult time listening in on your conversations.

It’s Compact

Kenwood’s TK 2402/3402 portable two-way radio weighs in at 1.5 lbs (around half a kilo), making it an easy piece of gear to carry on your belt during a busy workday. The slim design makes it easy to grip and, if your team is working outdoors on a cold day, the large PTT (push-to-talk) button makes operation easy for anyone wearing gloves.

It’s Affordable
