Reliable, cost-effective, communications keep your team connected and information flowing; they keep your team safe, and your facility secured.  Maintaining connectivity is important when you’re on site. When your team is spread across a wide area, like a courier company with drivers all over Edmonton, connectivity matters even more.

Finding a solution can be tricky.  Cellphones are ubiquitous, but distracted driving laws are getting more and more stringent. There’s also the risk of your team using work phones as their own personal devices, which can run up costs quickly.

Two-way radios are the ideal option for a widespread team, or a team hat’s constantly on the move. But, as you guessed, it can get complicated if you try and do everything on your own.  There are infrastructure requirements, equipment programming and maintenance, purchase costs and regulatory hurdles.  Significant resources are required, even if the project is short term.

But there are also shortcuts, like Tridon Connect.

Tridon Connect removes those complications.  It’s a pre-built, radio communications network that provides private, secure, digital radio voice and data coverage to central and northern Alberta, and across a range of industries.

Here’s how our network makes radio communication easier for you and your team.

You’ll Save Time on Starting Up

Tridon already has the infrastructure required for wide-area coverage in place. Our team has the technical expertise to monitor, maintain, repair and upgrade the equipment, and does so on a regular basis.  All that’s left to do is program your two-way radios to work on Tridon Connect, and our technicians can do that, too.

This means you don’t have to invest time and money to build your own network from scratch.  It also means you don’t have to hire technicians and engineers to design and maintain it.  Our network is here, ready to provide communications support for the duration of your project.

Our Network Covers Your Project Area

The maps to the right illustrate the coverage area Tridon Connect supports.  You can click on either to download a PDF copy or click here to view an interactive version.

The first map shows our coverage area in the Greater Edmonton Area. If your project has you working in this region, then our network can provide you with digital voice and data radio communication.

In practical terms, it means a dispatcher based in Edmonton could keep in constant communication with an entire fleet of vehicles – like school buses, couriers, ambulances or tow trucks – spread from north of Edgemont to south of Leduc and Nisku.   The dispatcher could instantly call drivers and get status updates on assignments or send help in the event of an emergency, like a vehicle breaking down.

The second map shows our coverage area across the Oil Sands, from Janvier to Fort McMurray, Fort MacKay and beyond.  With a coverage area as broad as this, managers working at one end of a mine site can receive updates on activities happening at the other, even if it’s several kilometres away.

For example: Assume a bus drives up to this mine site, transporting workers from Calgary and Edmonton for their rotation.  Security staff at the gate could radio management, immediately inform them of the arrival, and get approval for their admission to the site.  Two-way radios could even be used to open the gate remotely, meaning this gate could be opened from kilometres away.

Tridon Connect Has Built-In Redundancy and Is Supported 24/7/365

Any amount of downtime due to a communications system issue can cost you operation productivity and put your team’s safety at risk. That’s why Tridon Connect has been designed to mitigate that risk.

Our Networks Team consistently monitors the network, flagging any issues that arise.  If service or maintenance is required, our communications technicians are assigned to handle them immediately, and they stay on-call should there be an issue in the middle of the night.  And, to further mitigate the risk of downtime, backup systems are in place to keep your team communicating, day or night.

How does this simplify communications for you?

First, you have a communications system that works whenever you do and; Second, you have a team of trained professionals, on-call, whenever you need them.  You won’t be forced to troubleshoot the problem on your own or wait until the next business day for technicians to arrive and fix the problem.

You Don’t Have to Worry About Licensing Frequencies

The majority of Canada’s RF (radio frequency) spectrum is regulated by the Canadian federal body, ISED (Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada, formerly Industry

Canada).  Basically, this means that, if you want your own frequencies, you have to purchase annual licenses if you want reliable, private and secure two-way radio communications.  The applications can be complicated, approval can take up to six weeks, and there is no guarantee you’ll get the frequencies you need. Add to that the fact that costs can vary depending on your needs and the fines for NOT having a license on regulated frequencies can cost you millions of dollars.

Tridon Connect saves you that hassle and that risk.

A monthly subscription to the network covers the cost of licensing and the risk of related fines.  And, because we already have licensed frequencies dedicated to the network, there’s no application process to worry about.  You can use our frequencies and have instant access to private, secure, radio communication the moment you sign on.

You Have Access to Our Fleet of Rental Two-Way Radios

Ensuring your project will have the right two-way radio coverage is just part of the battle.  Getting the radios might be another one, entirely.

You may not have enough radios for your project.  If you only need radios a few times a year, you may not have any on hand, at all.

If this sounds like you, then Tridon has you covered.  We have hundreds of rental mobile and portable two-way radios in our inventory from manufacturers like Kenwood and Motorola, including intrinsically safe equipment.  Along with the radios, you can rent the accessories you need, like speaker mics and gang chargers, completing your communications kit.

You don’t have to be a subscriber to Tridon Connect to use our rental radios – they’re available to all our customers.  However, pairing a subscription with rental radios can be a cost-effective solution, especially for short-term projects.  Contact Us if you’d like to learn more.

Getting Started

Reliable two-way radio communication sets your team up for success when it comes to working productively and safely. Having that system in place means managers will always be aware of the status of assignments or any problems that arise at a job site.   When the job site is massive (like a bitumen mine) or the team is spread over great distances (like a fleet of buses) having a system in place that makes wide-area communication simple, is essential.

Tridon Connect is that solution.  It has the capacity to support your project from start to finish and we have the expertise to maintain the system so that it is there when you need it.  If you’d like to talk about how our network can work for you, Contact Us and we’ll get started.
