Two-way radios provide instant, private communications in almost any environment, making them an excellent option for keeping your crew connected on major projects.  That being said, there are times when choosing to rent could make the best use of your project’s limited budget.

There are plenty of reasons to rent two-way radios.  Here are the top seven:

It’s Cost-Effective for Short-Term Projects.

Two way radio rentals are ideal if you only need them for a limited amount of time.  The fixed, predictable monthly rate may be easier to budget for than a one-time, lumpsum purchase price when a project will only run a couple of months or even a couple of days.

Consider the construction industry as an example. If your team is inspecting a high-rise in downtown Edmonton and they need two-way radios for a few weeks, renting makes sense.  Once they’ve completed their assignment, the radios can simply be returned, and your organization gets the benefit of considerable savings.

The same can be said for the hospitality industry.  Several festivals and outdoor events come to our city every summer and they only last for a handful of days. But they rely on hundreds of staff and volunteers to create a memorable guest experience.  Effective communication is essential in making these events a success, and the option to rent rather than buy two-way radios can make a significant contribution to the organizer’s bottom line.

Ease of Scaling Up or Down.

Renting two-way radios is an excellent way to navigate predictable (and not so predictable) surprises that can impact your project plan and budget.  If the scope of the job suddenly increases, you can add radios to your rental order with full knowledge of how the increase will affect your costs while limiting your exposure since you won’t be stuck with an unnecessary asset at projects end.  And, with short-term rental options available, if for some reason you face an extended delay or scope reduction, the radios can be returned, and you will be charged the shortest-term option possible.

We Have the Right Radios for Your Project

With close to 15,000 rental two-way radios in our inventory, we can find the radio that suits your project needs.

We carry mobile and portable radios from Motorola Solutions and JVC Kenwood.  With VHF, UHF, 800 and 900 MHz radios available, your teams and vehicles will be equipped with the most reliable two-way communications equipment available.

And if your project requires your team to communicate while working in hazardous environments, our rental radio inventory includes intrinsically safe two-way radios which are regularly inspected and maintained in our CSA-certified repair facility.

  We take Care of Storage.

Consider what happens to tools when they aren’t in use: they are organized and stored in some part of your facility.  If you have a large enough inventory, you assign staff to manage it.

This means an investment of time, money and skill that could be focused on other projects.

Renting two-way radios is an easy way to avoid that expense.  Once you’re finished with the equipment, you can return it.

We Take Care of Maintenance, Too.

Inspecting and repairing two-way radios requires a specialized set of skills, and Tridon has factory-trained technicians on staff to handle every step of the process. They inspect every rental radio before it goes out in the field.

The equipment is cleaned and any damaged parts,      like belt clips or antennae, are replaced. Batteries are also tested and replaced if any performance issues are detected.

And, each radio undergoes an Auto-Tuning Testing process to ensure it is working within manufacturer specifications.  If any problems are detected they are addressed before the radio goes back into service.

Having our experts handle radio maintenance and repair means you can focus more resources on revenue-generating projects.

And our QA/QC process ensures that every time we give a customer a rental radio, it will work at optimal levels.

You Get the Rental Accessories You Need

Having the right accessories to support your two-way radios means communication can flow uninterrupted from project launch to completion.  When you rent two-way radios from Tridon, you can also rent the accessories you need to be fully prepared.

Spare batteries mean your crew won’t have a radio dying on them in the middle of a shift.  Gang chargers mean you can charge all your batteries in one place, making it easier to keep track of your equipment and minimize clutter.

Speaker mics with noise cancellation will allow your team to send and receive loud and clear messages in noisy industrial environments without pausing to pick up their radio. Lapel mics allow for discrete communication, making them ideal accessories for security, retail, and hospitality teams.

Headsets will do the same, with the added benefits of hands-free communication and hearing protection, allowing your team to keep both hands on the job while they communicate in noisy environments.

Tridon has all these two-way radio accessories so your rental package can be one complete kit.

Just like our rental radios, each accessory is inspected, repaired and cleaned so they perform like a brand-new device.  If an accessory cannot be repaired, or if a battery is past its useful life, it is replaced.

You’ll Always Have Access to Latest Technology.

Tridon works with manufacturers like JVC-Kenwood and Motorola Solutions to provide customers with the best two-way radios and supporting software available.

As new equipment and applications become available, we update our fleet of rental radios.

This means the latest two-way radio technology is available to you when the need arises.

It also means you can try radios out in the field and decide if you would like to purchase the same model radios at the end of the rental period.

You Get the Support of the Tridon Team

Our Client Support Specialists will work closely with your team to ensure your rental solution is complete and will allow for uninterrupted communication for the duration of your project.  They will suggest accessories if the equipment will make your project easier.  If effective alternatives can be found that save you money, those alternatives will be brought forward as recommendations.

Tridon rents radio systems, not just radios.  If you need a repeater to ensure coverage, our technicians will visit your site to find the best location for the temporary installation. They’ll also troubleshoot any potential coverage issues.  These same, factory-trained technicians will inspect, maintain and repair all rental communications equipment in our CSA-certified facility.  Their goal will always be to ensure it works optimally when it goes into the field.  If there is any question of equipment reliability, it will be pulled from rotation.

If your project requires an even larger system, with communication towers and point-to-point (P2P) links, Tridon’s Engineering and Tower Division will be at your service.  We’ll work with you every step of the way to ensure the rental system we design meets your project needs and keeps your team safe and connected,
